Title:
AIR-FUEL RATIO CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3889410
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain excellent control performance over a long period of time by minimizing a lowering of control performance by adaptive control even in the case the response characteristics of an air-fuel ratio sensor is degraded.
SOLUTION: The degradation of response characteristics of the air-fuel ratio sensor is detected (S145) by a parameter which is an adaptive parameter computed based on the dynamic model of an engine, to determine the response speed of adaptive feedback control. When detecting response degradation (FSTRRSP=0), the adaptive parameter is computed using a gain matrix Γ for the response degradation (S141, S142, S144). The gain matrix Γ for the response degradation is set to lower the adjusting speed of the adaptive parameter compared to a normal gain matrix Γ.
