To provide an airtight container that enables gas concentration to be regulated simply, and that is usable, as it is, in culture and microscope observation.
The airtight container for the observation by a microscope has a culture part having a transparent part allowing a culture vessel to be placed and enabling the observation by the microscope, and a storage part of a gas concentration regulator for regulating the culture part so as to have a prescribed gas atmosphere, and can be placed on an observation stage of the microscope. The airtight container is equipped with: a square body upper part 1 having an optically transparent smooth ceiling face; a square bottom frame 2 engaging at the lower end of the body upper part 1; a transparent sheet 3 mounted on the inner surface of the bottom frame 2; a sealing material 4 existing in between the body upper part 1 and the perimeter of the transparent sheet 3 on the bottom frame 2; the storing part 5 of the gas concentration regulator formed in one side wall part of the body upper part 1; and a pressure-regulating part 6 installed in the side wall.
