Title:
ALCOHOL SUITABLE FOR OPTICAL USE AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3680333
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject alcohol with low ultraviolet light absorption abnormality by separating an aldehyde from the reaction product mixture obtained from the hydroformylation of an olefin followed by further reaction of the aldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: A hydroformylation reaction is conducted between an olefin, carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a catalyst liquor containing a rhodium- trivalent organophosphorus compound-based complex, an excess of trivalent organophosphorus compound and an aromatic hydrocarbon at 60-200°C under hydrogen partial pressure, carbon monoxide partial pressure and the total pressure of 0.1-200kg/cm2G, 0.1-200kg/cm2G and 1-300kg/cm2G, respectively, and at the ratio of the hydrogen partial pressure to carbon monoxide partial pressure of (0.1-10), and a purified aldehyde is obtained by separating the resultant aldehyde from the reaction product mixture. The purified aldehyde is subjected to hydrogenated or hydrogenation and condensation reaction to obtain the objective alcohol. For this alcohol, it is required that the difference in absorbance from the corresponding pure alcohol is <0.01 at wavelengths of 260 to 340nm.
