Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A chalcone derivative expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are 1-22C alkyl; m and n are 1-5).

EXAMPLE: 4-Methyl-4'-methylthiochalcone.

USE: A medicine having excellent pharmacological action, such as antimcrobial action, and utilizable in a wide range of fields, such as medicine.

PREPARATION: Various alkylthiobenzaldehydes and various alkylthioacetophenones are subjected to condensation reaction in the presence of a basic catalyst, such as NaOH, or acidic catalyst, such as BF3, preferably at 0-50°C for 30min-25hr to afford the compound expressed by the formula.
