Title:
ALLOY FOR PERMANENT MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2746111
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To impart magnetic properties of high performance to an allay only by heat treatment or only by hot working and heat treatment by subjecting an allay for a magnet essentially consistirxg of rare earth elements, transition metals and baron to casting to form the macrostructure of fine columnar crystals and imparting anisotropy thereto.
CONSTITUTION: A magnet alloy essentially consisting of, by atom, 8 to 30% rare earth elements (including Y) and 2 to 8% boron, and the balance essential transition metals is melted and is cast into an iron mold to form columnar crystals. Next, for magnetically hardening the same, annealing is executed at ≥250°C. Otherwise, after the casting, it is subjected to hot working at ≥500°C to turn the crystal axis of the crystal grains into a specified direction, and subsequently, annealing is executed at ≥250°C. After that, it is cut and ground to form into a required shape, and the obtd. magnet has excellent characteristics in view of coercive force, the maximum energy product, the degree of orientation or the like.
