To reduce user's operation for altered value input to single pointing device operation and then improve productivity by displaying a handle representing a quadrangle or other graphics on or nearby a value display area, changing an additional display to a value based upon a lateral or longitudinal mouse position by dragging the mouse, and adding a new alteration value.
To add the altered value of an existent date 301, a mouse pointer 302 is put over the handle 303 (step 1). With the mouse button pressed, an additional date 304 is displayed (step 2). The mouse is dragged to the right and left and then the additional date 305 is automatically changed to a date value corresponding to the lateral position of the mouse pointer 302 based upon the contents of a data memory 305 (step 3). The button of the mouse is released and the new atered value 306 is displayed (step 4). Even for the added date value 306, a new altered value 307 can be added by the operations from the step 1 to the step 4 (step 5).
