Abstract:
PURPOSE:To recognize a comparatively dark part and a comparatively light part in a picture by extracting an arbitrary part in a signal and automatically controlling an amplification degree according to the level of the extracted signal part. CONSTITUTION:Area information holding means (RAMs) 253 and 254 to hold the position of an area to be extracted, area identifying means (counter circuits) CSS and CSE to synchronize with a video signal to be inputted, detect a scanning position, and identify at least either the difference between the detected scanning position and the position held by the RAMs 253 and 254 or the coincidence of the above- mentioned positions, a gain control means (an automatic gain control circuit) to automatically adjust the amplification degree for an analog signal to be inputted, and a switching means (an analog switch) to ON/OFF control an analog video signal to be impressed to the automatic gain control circuit according to the identified results of the counter circuits CSS and CSE are provided for the title processor. Thus, it is possible to emphasize a part in a dynamic range having small shading difference even when the dynamic range is extremely large. Further, since the processing is analog processing, the influence of a quantize error can be eliminated, and the increase of a burden on CPU (microprocessor) processing can be minimized.
