To provide a new animal detection system in which, when a distance between an antenna and a transmitter is calculated from the receiving intensity of electric waves, an error contained in a detection result can be reduced or eliminated to improve the accuracy of the detection even when the propagation characteristics of the electric waves are changed by the effects of weather and the like.
The animal detection system has an antenna 2 for receiving electric waves transmitted from a transmitter 1 to be attached to an animal and a standard transmitter 5 arranged at a place apart from the antenna 2 at a prescribed distance L0 and controls a correlation information so that a distance calculated on the basis of the receiving intensity of electric waves transmitted from the standard transmitter 5 becomes a prescribed distance L0 when a distance from the antenna 2 to the transmitter 1 is calculated on the basis of the receiving intensity of the receiving electric waves with the correlation information of a preliminarily identified receiving intensity with the distance from the antenna 2 to the transmitter 1.
