Abstract:
To allow users to easily and accurately determine genres of contents.
A graphic chip 15 generates still images based on animation data supplied from a video A/D converter 3 or an MPEG video decoder 13. A CPU 6 configures the generated still images corresponding to genres of contents, and controls so as to display the still images configured according to the genres of the contents corresponding to data if the data that indicates the content of the contents is displayed. This method can be applied to a recording and reproduction apparatus.
