Abstract:
To provide an asphalt binder which improves both rut resistance and crack resistance in the straight asphalt concurrently and is applicable across a wider temperature range, and to provide a paving asphalt mixture, in a simplified way at a low cost.
The asphalt binder is prepared by adding up to 30 pts.wt. of a carbon black, which exhibits an N2SA of 40-180 m2/g and a DBP absorption rate of ≥80 cm3/100 g, to 100 pts.wt. of the straight asphalt. In the asphalt binder, the value A is ≤200 nm, which is defined by formula (1): A=f×Dst×{[(0.86)/(×β)1/3] -1}, wherein f=exp(ΔD50/2Dst)2 and β=[1+0.0181(24M4DBP)]/1.59. The paving asphalt mixture uses this asphalt binder.
