To provide an assist bar which can be utilized as required without being obstructed by the existence of a transverse member by adjusting the height position of the transverse member.

The assist bar is constituted by providing an arm member 28 the one end side of which is supported rotatably on the side of the front face of a kitchen and the transverse member 29 supported in cantilever on the other end side of this member 28. When rotating the member 28, the member 29 has its posture controlled with the two positions of at least upper/lower places as stopping positions. When setting the stopping positions at the waist area or an area over the knee of a user, work in a posture leaning to the member 29 and work in the state of sitting on the member 29 can be selected.
