Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily obtain the subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for a medicine and an agrochemical by subjecting a specific 1,3- cycloalkadiene compound to an asymmetric epoxidizing reaction using a specific optically active manganese complex catalyst.
SOLUTION: A 1,3-cycloalkadiene compound expressed by formula I[(n) is an integer of 1-8; Z1-Z6 are each H, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, a 2-5C alkanoyl, a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl, nitro, cyano, etc.] is subjected to an asymmetric epoxidizing reaction by using an optically active manganese complex expressed by formula II[R1-R4 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl, etc.; R is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl or a substituted silyl; X- is an anion capable of forming a salt; Y is H, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, nitro or cyano] as a catalyst to obtain the objective optically active cycloalkadiene monoepoxy compound expressed by formula III(the absolute configuration of carbon atom expressed by * denotes R or S).
