When a microphone 10 picks up a surrounding noise included in an audio sound, a surrounding noise extract section 12 extracts only a surrounding noise to output a surrounding noise signal. A mean level calculation section 14 sets a time window length Ts within a range of 30-70 ms to calculate the mean level of an audio sound signal outputted from an audio unit 200. Furthermore, a mean level calculation section 16 sets a time window length Ts within a range of 80-120 ms to calculate the mean level of the surrounding noise signal. A gain calculation section 18 calculates a gain applied to the audio sound signal based on the result of calculation of each mean level calculated by the mean level calculation sections 14, 16. An amplifier 20 amplifies the audio sound signal based on the gain calculated by the gain calculation section 18.
