To provide a gain variable amplifier whose total noise figure is not considerably increased even when an attenuation of an attenuation circuit is increased.

The gain variable amplifier is provided with the attenuation circuit (23), a 1st amplifier circuit (21) that is coupled with an input of the attenuation circuit (23), and a 2nd amplifier circuit (22) coupled with an output of the attenuation circuit (23). Referencing the control signal to control the attenuation of the attenuation circuit (23) can control the amplification factor of the 1st amplifier circuit (21). When the attenuation of the attenuation circuit (23) is increased, the amplification factor of the 1st amplifier circuit (21) is reduced. An event that an input is excessive to the attenuation circuit (23) can be avoided.
