To provide an automatic answering telephone system for a communication terminal with superior functions, operability and carrying performance in which accurate time is obtained without maintenance by using received clock information, so as to store a time of the automatic answering telephone service.

Upon the receipt of an incoming call (S200), whether or not the automatic answering telephone mode is set is discriminated (S202) to conduct the automatic answering telephone function. When the automatic answering telephone mode is set, automatic reply is applied (S208) to the incoming call, and when the automatic answering telephone mode has not been set, the user conducts a reply operation to make a speech (S206) in response to the call. In the case that the automatic answering telephone mode has been set, the mode transits (S210) to other mode where an incoming call message from the caller is recorded after the automatic reply step S208. When the recording of the incoming call message is finished from the caller after that, latest time data (S212) received from a base station are stored (S214) with the message. Then the system is transited (S216) to the standby state in the automatic answering telephone mode again.
