To speedily and easily adjust speed and shorten braking distance when applying the brakes abruptly.
This automatic braking device of a vehicle is composed of a foot position sensing part 10 sensing a position of driver's foot for an accelerator pedal 21, a control part outputting a braking signal in accordance with the position of driver's foot sensed by the foot position sensing part 10, and a braking part 30 operating a brake having strength corresponding to a value of the braking signal to decelerate the vehicle while the braking signal is outputted from the control part. When pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal 21 by a driver, the control part interrupts outputting of the braking signal to stop deceleration of the vehicle. A contact sensing part 12 sensing a contact condition of an accelerator rod 22 provided below a rear surface side of a face of the accelerator pedal 21 on which a foot is put with a rear surface of the accelerator pedal 21 is provided. The control part outputs a braking signal to the control part 30 when sensing the separation of the accelerator pedal 21 from the accelerator rod 22 by the contact sensing part 12.
