PURPOSE: To enable a multilayer welding available easily and surely as occasion demands and sufficiently even in a narrow space by producing a main body and welding a head part in a separate body each other and by connecting those with the supporting rod for advance and retreat movement.
CONSTITUTION: The advance command signal of a welding head 12 transmitted from a control part is outputted when the position detecting signal transmitted from a front part stopper 19a is inputted to the control part and a supporting rod 14 is started to advance with driving of a roller mechanism 16. A weaving command signal is simultaneously outputted and the weaving of a welding torch 26 is started with driving of a weaver motor 31. In case of the surface of a rising wall being curved, the supporting rod 14 is moved forward with changing the projection angle from the main body 11, moving the welding head 12 along the welding line. The advance of the welding head 12 and welding operation are once stopped based on the position detecting signal transmitted from the rear part stopper 19b when the supporting rod 14 is advanced maximally.
