PURPOSE: To automatically switch over a paper feeding mode at the time of the change between ordinary sheets of paper and thick sheets of paper by rotatably providing a second paper guide projectably/retractably on the inside of a separating member on each of right and left paper guides, and rotatably providing a second separating member projectably/retractably on a paper support.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of feeding thick sheets of paper, all of right and left second paper guides 29a, 29b and a second separating member 30 are erected and the positions of the paper guides 29a, 29b are adjusted by sliding right and left paper guides 21a, 21b while the position of the separating member 30 is adjusted by sliding a paper support 22. In this condition, the lower ends of thick sheets of paper are supported by the separating member 30 while their right and left sides being guided by the paper guides 29a 29b. When right and left feed rollers 28a, 28b are rotated, the thick sheets of paper are separated one sheet at a time by means of the separating member 30 and are conveyed beyond the end of the member 30. At the time of feeding ordinary sheets of paper, the paper guides 29a, 29b and the separating member 30 may be kept in a retracted condition.
