Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the location and return schedule of a user to a caller by selecting a data base to which access is performed by a telephone answering mechanism. CONSTITUTION: When a telephone 31 receives a call from a telephone 33, it is automatically activated, and a telephone answering mechanism provides a message or an answer to a caller. Moreover, the mechanism allows the caller to leave a message to a user. Then, an answer to be applied to the caller is constituted of three parts. The first part provides a greeting based on a time by the clock of a data processing system 11, the second part identifies the user, and the third part provides information. Such answer is extracted from the data base of the system 11. The second part for identifying the user is provided with a default message. The second default part is generated with a common voice corresponding to all users by the data processing system. Then, the third part automatically extracts information from a data base on the system 11. The user provides information to the telephone answering mechanism each time the data base is updated.
