This device is equipped with a storage shelf unit 10 for automatically taking out file holders F stored on storage shelves 11, a releasing means 20 for selectively sorting and releasing the holders F taken out from the unit 10 to a given place, a carrying means 30 having a first carrying path 31 for carrying (right sending) the holders F released respectively via the means 20 toward one side, and a second carrying path 32 for carrying (left sending) the holders F toward another side, changing means (movable guides 40) for changing the proceeding direction of the holders F carried by the means 20, and plural sorting and retrieving parts 50 arranged in the front of the unit 10, and receiving and retrieving the holders F sorted via the means 40 from the means 30.
