To provide a technique for reading characters regarding cash transaction information described on a paper sheet such as a specification slip to simplify cash transaction processing.

A card processing unit 11 mounted on an automatic teller machine 1 has an emboss read unit 32 having an OCR function. When transferring cash, the specification slip, which has issued in the last transfer, is inserted into an auxiliary case for transfer with the same outer size as that of a cash card or a transfer card. However, the slip is inserted into the case so that the read unit 32 can read transfer information. The machine 1 displays the transfer information read by the read unit 32 to correct a part of an upper portion of the displayed information and then enables easy transfer information generation.
