Abstract:
To provide technology that detects timing of catching a ball from an image of a catcher catching a ball with a monocular camera installed behind a pitcher.SOLUTION: A ball catching timing detection device includes: a first position detection unit that detects, with a person who throws a ball as a first player and with a person who catches the ball as a second player, from an image I(t) (t=0 to T, T is an integer greater than 1) of the second player catching the ball with his/her glove using a monocular camera installed behind the first player, a ball position B(t) (t=0 to T); a second position detecting unit that detects a glove position G(t) (t=0 to T, T) of the second player from the image I(t) (t=0 to T); and a time detection unit that detects time tC when the second player catches the ball from the position B(t) (t=0 to T, T) and the position G(t) (t=0 to, T).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
