To provide a bar code reader capable of accurately reading out not only a bar code on a reflective document such as a bar code printed on the paper but also a bar code displayed on a display medium reflecting much irradiating light such as a liquid crystal image plane.

This bar code reader is provided with an optical sensor for converting the intensity of the detected light as the reflected light or the direct light from the bar code into an electric signal. A plurality of optical sensors 102-1, 102-2,...102-n is mounted for sharing the detected light by the detected lights 101-1, 101-2,...101-n of every specific wavelength.
