PURPOSE: A beautifying cosmetic having improved shelf stability and beautifying effects, obtained by blending a beautifying cosmetic composition with a specific 3-0-ethyl, 6-acyl L-ascorbic acid.

CONSTITUTION: A beautifying cosmetic composition is blended with 0.1W10.0wt%, preferably 1.0W5.0wt% based on the total amounts of the beautifying cosmetic composition of a 3-0-ethyl, 6-acyl L-ascorbic acid shown by the formula (R is 1W22C alkyl) to provide a beautifying cosmetic having improved shelf stability, inhibitory action on tyrosinase activity and lightening action on color of formed melanin, which is further blended with a skin activating component such as diisopropylamine, dichloroacetate, γ-aminobutyric acid, vitamin E acetate, vitamin E nicotinate, vitamin E orotate, etc.,), to give a beautifying cosmetic which promotes metabolism of epidermis and shows extremely improved beatifying effects.
