PURPOSE: To provide black-and-white photosensitive material and the image forming method each capable of forming an image ultra-high in contrast and superior in reproducibility in the dot ranges of extremely small points in a high precision printing and an FM screening printing and the like, improving a problem on black spots, and in the case of successively operating development processing in an automatic developing machine and the like, keeping ultrahigh contrast and the dot range repro-ducibility of extremely small points, and reducing deterioration of the black spot problems.

CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive material contains a hydrazine derivative in one side of a support and ≥50mol% silver chloride in a first silver halide emulsion layer and <50mol% silver chloride in a second silver halide emulsion layer and the total silver halide amount in the second emulsion layer is in 3-25mol% of the total applied silver halide amount on the support.
