Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a block copolymer for cement dispersing agent, etc., having a polyalkylene glycol structural unit and a polyglyoxylate structural unit and excellent in dispersing property as well as chelate formability and scale preventing performance.
SOLUTION: This block copolymer comprises a polyalkylene glycol structural unit represented by formula I [(n) is 2-4; average value of (x) is ≥5] and a polyglyoxylate structural unit represented by formula II [M is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a mono- to tri-valent metal atom, ammonium group or an organic amine; average value of (y) is ≥10]. Furthermore, the polymer is obtained by subjecting a glyoxylic acid-based monomer to polymerization reaction with a polyalkylene glycol represented by formula III (R1 is H, an alkyl, an alkenyl, etc.) in a polymerization reaction system in which water content is ≤30mol% based on the compound represented by formula III in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. an anion polymerization catalyst such as diethyl zinc) and saponifying the resultant polymer with an alkaline substance such as sodium hydroxide.
