To provide a booklet making apparatus which, when a booklet is bound by bundling a plurality of sheets, making them into the booklet, and fixing one of four sides of the sheet, decides a paper type so as to process the sheets into the booklet irrespective of the number of pages of the booklet.
The booklet making apparatus includes: a means that forms a group of candidates for the thickness of the booklet from a list of the number of sheets that constitute the booklet and paper thickness that can be used in the booklet; a means that determines whether the formed group of candidates for the thickness of the booklet fulfills a condition of a range of the thickness of the booklet which can be bound; and a means that, if there are a plurality of candidates for the thickness of the booklet determined to fulfill the condition by the determination, displays a screen for making a user select either an automatic selection mode or a manual selection mode, decides the candidate which is the nearest to a predetermined selection reference as the thickness of the booklet, if the automatic selection mode is selected, and decides the candidate selected by the user as the thickness of the booklet, if the manual selection mode is selected, and then decides the thickness of paper according to the thickness of the booklet decided by any selection mode.
