Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a panel of high strength whose butt end is free from separation by attaching a butt end material having a U-shaped cross section and provided with an irregular insertion piece on each side thereof to an end of a panel and injecting an expandable material, as a core material, to form the butt end material and the panel into a one-piece construction.
CONSTITUTION: An butt end material 1 having a U-shaped cross section and provided with, on each of the opposite sides of a butt end surface 5, insertion pieces 6 having engaging parts such as projections 8, arrows 13 is attached to an end of an opposed panel 12. In this case, an edge of the panel 12 is folded back inwardly through about 180° to form a cover edge 10 so as to be engaged with the material 1. And an expandable resin 2, as a core material, is injected into between the panels 12 to continuously form the panels 12 and butt end materials 1 into a one-piece construction, whereby strength of the edges of the panels 12 can be improved and separation of the edges can be avoided so that sufficient mounting strength can be provided when a hinge or lock is mounted, while a reinforcing material, if required, can be attached to the mounting parts of the hinge or lock. As a result, a panel of high strength can be provided.
