Abstract:

To provide a capacitance detection device which can improve processing speed by reducing the amount of detection information to be sent out.

The shape of the surface of a finger is read, by detecting the capacitance which varies according to the distance from the finger by a plurality of capacitance detection circuits 31. The fingerprint information read out from each capacitance detection circuit 31 is converted into a 1-bit digital signal by an A/D converter. In processing the detection information from the capacitance detection circuits 31, there is no need for processing the signal of a plurality of bits. Thus, the processing speed can be improved, and the power consumption thereof, as the fingerprint sensor 1, can be reduced.
