PURPOSE: To provide a carpet cutter capable of being produced simply and comparatively inexpensively by sufficiently protruding a blade device having a cutting blade from a lower surface so as to position it in the relation capable of cutting work to a carpet.

CONSTITUTION: A hollow handle device 24 is rigidly fixed on the upper surface of a base plate 16 at a central position between side plates 22. A blade device 26 is rigidly fixed to a device 10 at the central position between the side plates 22 so as to keep a cutting blade practically parallel with the axial center in lengthwise direction. Further, the blade device 26 is sufficiently protruded under a lower surface 20 so as to be positioned in the relation of operational cutting to carpet sections 12a and 12b. This operating position is an arbitrary position where the cutting blade 28 can be completely passed through the top carpet section 12b and practically passed through the bottom carpet section 12a and can cross the upper surface of a lower pad 14 partially at least.
