To provide a carrying device capable of highly accurately detecting and correcting lateral registration dislocation of a recording sheet (dislocation in the orthogonal direction to the carrying direction of the recording sheet).
In this carrying device for carrying the recording sheet, a detecting means binarizes output of a line sensor with an intermediate level between an output level of the line sensor in a state of not carrying the recording sheet to a position of the line sensor and an output level of the line sensor in a state of carrying the recording sheet to the position of the line sensor as a threshold value, and detects a position of changing a binarized value as an edge position of the recording sheet, and changes the threshold value in a plurality of times of respective detections in response to the output level of the line sensor in a state of carrying the recording sheet to the position of the line sensor in the plurality of times of respective detections when performing detection of an edge position of the recording sheet in a plurality of times.
