PURPOSE: To detect both the end of cassette loading and the end of cassette ejection with operation of a switch, by switching the shifting direction of the cassette with only the motive force in a single direction of a motor, then performing loading and ejection of the cassette.
CONSTITUTION: When a cassette is pushed in through a front opening part, the edge part of the cassette touches a cassette insertion detecting member 80. The member 80 is turned clockwise to actuate a cassette insertion detecting switch 104. Thus a motor 4 is turned to turn a gear 12b via a pulley 6, a belt 8 and a pulley part 12a. Then a gear 30a turns via a gear 18 and a gear 26. The rotation of the gear 30a is transmitted to a carriage 38 via the rack part of the carriage 38. Thus the carriage 38 is shifted toward B. As a result, a cassette catch 84a fits to a pinch roller inserting hole. Then the cassette is held to be transferred toward B.
