Title:
CATALYST FOR DECOMPOSING NITROGEN OXIDE AND METHOD FOR REMOVING NITROGEN OXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05115784
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for decomposing nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas without a redactant to prevent pollution, and to provide a new catalyst for the method.

CONSTITUTION: A catalyst containing at least one kind of carbide of W, Ti, Ta, or Si as a component for decomposing NOx is brought in to contact with exhaust gas at 200-l000°C to decompose NOx. Since NOx can be decomposed on the catalyst in the absence of a reductant into harmless compounds, NOx in the exhaust gas not containing reducing gases, to which conventional catalysts can hardly be applied, can be removed easily.
