Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heat resistance of a composite oxide so as to maintain high exhaust gas purifying performance over a long period even with a small amount of catalyst noble metals.
SOLUTION: A catalyst for purification of exhaust gas has a catalyst layer 6 which contains the composite oxide containing Ce, Zr, Nd and a catalyst noble metal(s) and activated alumina, on the surface of the cell wall 5 of a honeycomb support. The ratio of ZrO2/(CeO2+ZrO2) of the composite oxide is 65-90 mass%, and the ratio of Nd2O3/(CeO2+ZrO2+Nd2O3) of 2.6-40 mass%.
