Abstract:
To provide a method which enables the oxidation of an alcohol into a carbonyl compound in a short time with a high-yield, high-selectivity and efficient recycle of the catalyst.
A catalyst for oxidation of an alcohol contains a compound(s) of a metal of the group VI in the periodic table carried by a carrier and a method of oxidizing an alcohol are provided. The method comprises treating an alcohol with an oxidizing agent under heating conditions in the presence of the oxidation catalyst and a phase-transfer catalyst.
