Title:
CATALYST FOR OXIDIZING FORMALDEHYDE, METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF CLEANING AIR USING THE SAME CATALYST
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010058074
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide tightly mixed oxides of manganese and cerium for use in a catalyst for oxidizing formaldehyde, which oxides can be produced from cheap raw materials by a simple production apparatus and a simple production method and can clean indoor air by completely oxidizing formaldehyde at a relatively low temperature without using noble metal.

The catalyst for oxidizing formaldehyde includes tightly mixed oxides of manganese and cerium. The tightly mixed oxides of manganese and cerium have an X-ray diffraction peak corresponding to the fluorite-type structure of cerium dioxide as its main peak, and contain manganese in an amount of 10 to 60 mass% on the basis of manganese dioxide.
