Title:
CATALYTIC COMBUSTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3855537
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a catalytic combustor body by providing a burner port, constituted of a catalytic net, at the boundary of a mixing section and an igniting section so that catalytic combustion can take place.
SOLUTION: Since a catalytic net 25a has a small opening area, current velocity of combustible gas passing through the opening is increased and a flame is formed closely to a combustion catalyst 22 remote from a burner port 25. Consequently, the combustion catalyst 22 reaches a catalytic combustion temperature within several seconds. Since the catalytic net 25a has a small thermal capacity, temperature thereof rises instantaneously even if a flame is formed remotely to start catalytic combustion. Consequently, a flame formed at the burner port 25 extinguishes naturally and catalytic combustion also takes place at the combustion catalyst 22. Since a mixing section 18 is a straight tubular passage, a combustor 11 can be made thick and since the catalytic net 25a is used as the burner port 25, opening area can be decreased. Consequently, current velocity of combustible gas passing through the opening can be increased and a flame can be formed closely to the combustion catalyst 22. Catalytic combustion can thereby be executed surely while reducing the size.
