PURPOSE: To maintain a uniform temp. distribution of the molten metal in a mold for horizontal type centrifugal casting and to form a casting having defectless quality by pressurizing and injecting the molten metal into the mold through the open end of the mold by using a casting hopper under the varying pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A spout port 51 of a casting hopper 5 is positioned to face a hole 21 provided to the end plate 2 of a mold 1 for horizontal type centrifugal casting and after a required amt. of molten metal M is poured into the hopper 5, said port is hermetically closed and compressed air is introduced via a conduit 6 into the hopper 5 to pour vigorously the molten metal as jet flow into the mold 1. The pressure is increased for the beginning to force the molten metal M to arrive at the front side and thereafter the pressure in the hopper 5 is gradually decreased to weaken the energy of the jet flow of the molten metal thereby transferring gradually the falling point thereof to the sprue side until casting of a prescribed amt. of the molten metal M is completed.
