PURPOSE: To obtain a stable water-base compsn. wherein the continuous phase is water-based, micells are composed of an amphiphilic copolymer, the oleophilic component is crosslinked, and hence other components can be contained in chemically fixed micells.

CONSTITUTION: In this compsn. which contains a continuous phase contg. chemically fixed micells composed of a copolymer, (A) the continuous phase is water- based; (B) the micells are composed of an amphiphilic block or graft copolymer comprising a water-soluble component and an oleophilic component crosslinkable in an aq. environment; and (C) the oleophilic component is crosslinked. poly(alkylene oxides), esp. poly(ethylene oxide), are pref. as the amphiphilic copolymers. Thus, for instance, a photographic activator or a biological chemical can be incorporated into chemically fixed micells.
