PURPOSE: To obtain a chip component which is suitable for automation by a method wherein an iron powder which has been magnetized to a polarity on one side is applied to the surface of an electrode on one side for the chip component and an iron powder which has been magnetized to a polarity identical to the polarity on one side, or to a polarity opposite to it, is applied to one side edge out of opposite side edges of both electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a magnetized iron powder 4a is applied to the surface of an electrode 2 for a chip component 1, and a magnetized iron powder 5 is applied to a side edge on the side of an electrode 3. Alternatively, a magnetized iron powder 4b is applied to the surface of an electrode 3 for a chip component 1, and a magnetized iron powder 5 is applied to the side edge on the side of the electrode 3. In an automatic assembly machine for the chip component, a bulk cassette 22 is arranged at one end of a conveyor belt 21, a chuck mechanism 23 is arranged at the other end, and a positioning device 24 is arranged in a halfway part. The positioning device 24 is incorporated in an enclosure which is set so as to embrace the conveyor belt 21, and a passage 25 is formed in the enclosure along the conveyance direction of the conveyor belt 21.
