Title:
CHIRAL RUTHENIUM COMPLEX, ITS PRODUCTION AND ENANTIOMER SELECTIVE TRANSFER HYDROGENATION OF PROCHIRAL KETONE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3878703
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new chiral ruthenium complex, a specific chiral ruthenium complex having a chiral ligand, easily producible and effective as a transfer hydrogenation catalyst, which is enantiomer selective on a prochiral ketone and reduces all kinds of ketones.
SOLUTION: A chiral new ruthenium complex expressed by formula I {X1 and X2 are each a hydride ion, a (substituted) 1-10C carboxylic acid anion, methanesulfinic acid anion or trifluoromethanesulfinic acid anion, etc.; L1 is a ligand such as a 5-6 membered cyclic ether, a 5-8 membered cyclic olefin, a (substituted) aromatic compound, CO or PF3; L2 is a bidentate chiral ligand of formula II [R4 and R5 are each a (substituted) alkyl, a(substituted) cycloalkyl or a (substituted) aryl; R6 is OH, SH, NH2 COOH, aryloxy, alkoxy, etc.; R8 and R9 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl, or together form an aryl by fusing, etc.]}. The complex is useful as a transfer hydrogenation catalyst, which is enantiomer selective, etc., on a prochiral ketone.
