To further improve the discrimination accuracy of coins by suppressing an increase in cost.SOLUTION: A coin identification mechanism (coin identification part) 23 comprises: an outline detection sensor 31 for detecting an outline of a coin C1 conveyed along a conveyance path 221 at a first detection position 222; a magnetic sensor 32 for detecting the magnitude of a magnetic field on the conveyance path 221 at a second detection position 223 positioned on the downstream side of the first detection position 222; and a frequency setting part 35 for setting the oscillation frequency of the magnetic sensor 32 according to the outline of the coin C1 detected by the outline detection sensor 31; and a determination part 35 for determining the authenticity of the coin C1 on the basis of the magnitude of the magnetic field detected from the magnetic sensor 32 when the coin C1 passes the second detection position 223.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
