Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the color picture processing unit by which color reproduction with fidelity to an original picture is attained at image forming and which is communicated with a black/white facsimile equipment represented by a G3 equipment in compliance with the CCITT recommendations most widely spread at present at picture communication.
CONSTITUTION: A signal from a picture input section 8 is converted into L*a*b* or the like of a CIE color representation system by a standardizing signal section 9. In the case of a color picture output, a parameter for a full color hard copy is outputted to a color picture output device by a 1st density conversion correction section 10 comprising a UCR/black generating section 11, a color correction masking section 12 and an output gradation correction section 13 or the like. In the case of facsimile communication, only a lightness signal L* converted by the standardizing signal section 9 is inputted to a 2nd density conversion correction section 14, and its output is compressed by a binarization section 15.
