PURPOSE: To facilitate designing of a high cell space and thereby enhance the characteristics, by forming display cells, respectively, at positions of intersection between a first line electrode group and a second line electrode group, and spatially separating the display cell by use of partitioning portions and partitioning plates, at which time, phosphor is adhered before hand to the surfaces of the partitioning plates as well as to the inner surfaces of the partitioning portions.
CONSTITUTION: A colored layer 5 corresponding to the shape of a partitioning wall 3 is formed in a front glass plate 1 by deposition of Cr and etching. With this layer 5 being used as a mask, a glass plate 1 is etched to form partioning portions and part of a cell space, thereby providing one front partitioning plate 31 as a whole. Next, a phosphor layer 4 prepared from mixing triple colors, RGB, phosphor powders to a white color phosphor powder is adhered to the surface of the partitioning plate 31 and the inner surface of the partitioning portions thereof. On a rear plate 2 prepared through use of a glass plate is provided an AC type circuit not shown, on which a dielectric ink is printed a number of times to provide a partitioning wall, thus providing one rear partitioning plate 32 as a whole. By so doing, it is possible to make high the cell space by the extent corresponding to the colored layer 5 and the phosphor layer 4, thereby facilitating panel preparation.
