To prevent a commodity discharge device that uses a spiral shaft from mistakenly discharging or damaging the next commodity to be sold, and to ensure that the device only discharges the commodity to be sold this time.
A spiral shaft having a drive connected to one end and used to store and discharge commodities is rotated in the normal direction by an angle needed to discharge one commodity. Immediately after that, the shaft is rotated back in the reverse direction by a rotation angle equal to or less than the angle by which one commodity is discharged. The shaft is again rotated in the normal direction by the same rotation angle as that of the reverse rotation, so that only the commodity to be sold this time is discharged while the next commodity to be sold is prevented from assuming a dropping attitude.
