PURPOSE: To display or print not the telephone number of the other party of communication but a city name, a town name, or the like corresponding to the telephone number.

CONSTITUTION: A ROM 9 is provided with a table of correspondence between toll numbers and city, town, and village names, and a control part 1 performs the processing to find city, town, and village names from this table based on a received originating source telephone number, and these city, town, and village names are displayed on a display part 11 or are recorded on recording paper by a recording part 8. Consequently, the approximate whereabouts of the other party is immediately detected because the city name or the town name corresponding to the telephone number of the other party of communication is displayed or recorded.
