PURPOSE: To obtain a component feed apparatus which prevents components from being clogged in their transfer operation and in which the dislocation of a component attached to, and mounted on, a transfer means is minimized when the component is attached and mounted by a method wherein a positioning means arranges the components, which are transferred from a component filling means, in order in a row while their position in the horizontal direction at right angles to their transfer direction is being arranged in order.

CONSTITUTION: Components 2 which are slid from a stick magazine 5 and which are transferred by a belt transfer part 14 are arranged in order in a row while their position in the width direction is being arranged in order by a width defining jaw 41. In a state that the components are arranged in order in advance in this manner, their positioning operation in their length direction and their positioning operation in the width direction are performed in a component feed position by a front stopper 42 and side stoppers 43 which are installed on the downstream side in the transfer direction of the components. Then, when the components 2 are transferred, they are not subjected to a restraint, and a problem that the components are clogged is not caused. Thereby, when the components 2 are sucked by a suction head in the component feed position, the components 2 are set to a state that they have been positioned in advance.
