To provide an optical fiber stripping/cutting component that can be stably operated, that obtains a superior cut end of an optical fiber without relying on the operator's skill, and that removes a coating from an optical fiber, and also to provide a method of stripping/cutting an optical fiber.
The optical fiber stripping/cutting component includes a first and a second member. The first member is composed of a groove that extends in the longitudinal direction and that can house a coated optical fiber, an optical fiber cutting blade provided integrally inside the groove, a pair of coating removing blades that are generally installed in the groove with a space apart from the optical fiber cutting blade and that are oppositely arranged with a prescribed space apart in the direction vertical to the longitudinal direction, and a resin material having a bent part in the middle. The second member arranged opposite to the first member is composed of a groove that can house the coated fiber and that is corresponding to the groove of the first member, a pair of coating removing blades that correspond to the pair of coating removing blades of the first member provided integrally inside the groove and that are arranged oppositely with a prescribed space apart in the direction vertical to the longitudinal direction, and a resin material having in the middle a bent part corresponding to that of the first member.
