PURPOSE: To provide a vertical type continuous polycondensation apparatus and a continuous polycondensation method wherein a high quality polymer is efficiently produced, by stirring a liquid to be processed in the body thoroughly by stirring blades having a relatively simple structure and by renewing the surface.
CONSTITUTION: A rotating shaft 2 is provided longitudinally in a vertical type cylindrical container body 1, the inside of the vertical type cylindrical container body 1 is divided by ring members 5 into sections to form annular stirring chambers 6, the rotating shaft is provided with stirring members 7 for stirring thoroughly the inside of the stirring chambers, a space for the passage of volatiles is provided between the annular stirring chamber and the rotating shaft, and an inlet 8 and an outlet 9 for the liquid to be processed and an outlet 10 for the evaporates are provided at the upper part, the lower part, and the side of the body, respectively. Accordingly, the stirring is carried out in the body in a completely self-cleaning fashion and the surface is renewed favorably by the formation of a thin film, so that a high quality polymer can be produced efficiently without deterioration due to stagnation.
