PURPOSE: To break an electric source of a control circuit before an output contact joint of a speed governor in a pit is covered with water by stopping an elevator at the nearest floor and making passengers emerge from an elevator cage at the time when a water level detector in the pit outputs.

CONSTITUTION: Output of a contact point 17a of a water level detector 17 in a pit is taken up in a microcomputer 22, a travelling elevator cage 13 is stopped at the nearest floor, passengers in the elevator cage 13 are made to emerge from the elevator cage 13 and thereafter, a door is closed. On a breaker 2 of a control circuit such as a drive circuit 3 of an elevator and others, a breaker tripping device 2a is provided, and when the elevator stops, by actuating the breaker tripping device 2a and cutting the control circuit such as the drive circuit 3 and others off a power electric source, drive of the elevator is stopped.
